Hi there,
Question: What actually is a GTM engineer?
Answer: It's someone that engineers go to market systems to be better (more output) and more efficient.
A GTM engineer will use tools (software, AI...) to create new go to market motions, streamline current motions, reduce manual labor (workflow below is a great example of this), and look at go to market as a system to engineer.
To do this they'll be skilled in AI prompting, understanding API and how tools can work together, email infrastructure, Clay (and other tools like Unify, Cargo...), and system thinking and design.
I think it's a role that'll be standard in any SaaS co in 3-5 years.
And I say this looking at the trend of go to market efficiency becoming a more important metric in valuations for SaaS co's which the GTM engineer is built for.
So we'll see how it evolves but I'm positive it'll be a huge part of future SaaS co's.

Even though the Clay integration isn't native yet, I've been loving them. For those that don't know Breackcold, they're a CRM built on LinkedIn so if you're social selling and LinkedIn is a major channel, I think it's a no-brainer. It tracks LinkedIn posts of your contacts, syncs messages and lives on your LinkedIn.
This is a workflow we were using a lot for Expand. It's a fully automated way to create reports of customers you're talking to so you don't have to do any manual research yourself.
Check out the workflow here (full templates are linked in the video):
Thanks for reading!
I hope this email gave you some value! Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback (just reply to this email).
On a personal note, Last week was a busy one, I launched the GTM Engineer (and with it, this newsletter), and less than 24 hours after we launched we got our first official client. I'm so excited for what's to come - love building these systems so let's see what cool workflows we come up with next.
Happy Sunday,
Laurens
